Bath time with Daddy

After trying every which way to bathe a baby, we finally found what Emmett likes.  He loves his little bath sling inside our bath tub (only if he has a wash cloth on his belly!). Emmett loves bath time with his daddy and daddy sure loves it too!

 PASSED OUT!

FCA 5k!

Yes, 6 weeks postpartum the fam bam ran a 5k! It was a great day in Mission Bay raising money for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

1 Month

We made it! 1 month sweet baby boy

My sweet Emmett,
This past month has definitely been a learning experience for us both.  We have laughed, we have cried, we have snuggled, and we have napped.  We have even made a few first trips out of the house. You have already grown and changed so much since the day you were born. The little grunts you make while you wiggle around in your bassinet and the side smiles you do make my day.  So far you love going for walks to the beach in your stroller, car rides, and snuggling in bed with your daddy and I.  Not everything though has been fun and joy and that is ok.  We both are learning.  We have come so far my little man and can't wait for all that is to come ahead.

Emmett's Birth Story

On March 7th I went in to be induced.  I was 41 weeks that day and my doctor did not want me to go much longer.  We got to the hospital at around 9:00pm that night, they started me on my first round of medication to prepare my body for labor, started my IV (which I almost passed out after), and tried to fall asleep with all the excitement that our little man would most likely be here the next day.  Saturday morning they then started me on my next round of medication.  This was the stuff that would start the contractions.  Everything was fine at first but by 3cm I was in soooo much pain and the nurses wouldn't stop offering it so I got the epidural.  IT WAS AMAZING! No pain what so ever. I was able to sleep while still having contractions and labor progressing.  They broke my water in hopes that it was also speed things up since it was taking a long time to just get to 3cm.  After a while of things not progressing, my doctor came in and said I need to have a c-section.  She said it was not an emergency c-section but that within the next hour we need to get the baby out as the baby is becoming distressed because the contractions are to strong on his head.  I was devastated to hear this! Not me, no, I wasn't going to have a c-section. I'm healthy, strong, determined, I can do this! I never ever thought I would have to have a c-section, but the truth was I was going to have one.  Andrew and I took a moment and talked about it even though there was not much to discuss as it had to be done.  He was worried for me and so was I.  The nurse and Doctor came back in and gave Andrew the surgery suit and me my hair cap and rolled me on down to the Operating Room.  Once they began, Andrew was sitting by my head ready with the camera for our baby's big appearance.  While they were cutting me open I just kept telling Andrew to distract me and keep talking. We talked about how our baby was going to be here within minutes, what we thought he would look like, and how excited we were to meet and see him.  Then once he was out it was love at first sight.  It was definitely one of the best moments of our lives.  He is perfect! Once we saw him we both said "Yes, he is an Emmett!"
